Yeah, pretty slow. I kinda wish it was faster leveling, and up to lvl 10. I believe Sims 3 Collecting (hidden skill) was 10. If they better integrated cross pack wise with OR (only catching with net levels, not regular catching, and viewing insects don't work for OR insects), and that future packs that may have bugs (or Nanites! :D), I think it would be great :)
NoahLGP Note that "Have Dinner" and other meal Activities include both cooking and eating, so if you're using "Have Dinner" as a Main Activity, all roles will cook and eat. Your strategy is better for what you want, the division between roles.
Here is some additional information that may help some who are struggling with getaways and set-up. Of course there are some things I hope they fix and tweak, but I really like things so far.
Rebuilt the lot where you go to for Plan a Romantic Competition (Gibbi Point – Love Highland Getaway) and made sure I had the things the lot needed for the getaway.
How I created my Singles Getaway: To make things easier, I select one of the pre-created getaways which is Romantic Competition. Next, I change the name to Looking 4Love. Yes, you can Save what you have created and even make changes to what you've created and then Save over that. Everything you set-up Saves as long as you click the button. One of the reasons I start off with a pre-created getaway is because sometimes I want to keep the Sims selected in pre-existing roles--otherwise they will not show up as an option if you don't know them.
The only activity that I have issues with from what I've tried, as I mentioned in a previous post is Eat, because they keep on eating. I decided not to include it because Sims will take care of their needs when I assign Free Time or Self Care.
The Staff is also Single who took on the role of a butler while working. This is what I set-up for my Singles getaway:
12 am - Main Activity: Sleep
Staff Role Activity: Sleep
Singles Role Activity: Sleep
Group 2 Singles Role: Sleep
Romantic Host: Sleep
7 am - Main Activity: Leave Empty
Staff Role Activity: Serve Meal
Singles Role Activity: Be Friendly, Be Flirty
Group 2 Singles Role: Be Friendly, Be Flirty
Romantic Host: Self Care, Do Home Chores, Fix Objects
10 am - Main Activity: Leave Empty
Staff Role Activity: Do Home Chores, Fix Objects
Singles Role Activity: Be Friendly, Free Time
Group 2 Singles Role: Be Friendly, Free Time
Romantic Host: Be Friendly, Free Time
1 pm - Main Activity: Leave Empty
Staff Role Activity: Serve Meal
Singles Role Activity: Enjoy the Outdoors
Group 2 Singles Role: Enjoy the Outdoors
Romantic Host: Self Care, Do Home Chores, Fix Objects
6 pm - Main Activity: Leave Empty
Staff Role Activity: Free Time
Singles Role Activity: Be Flirty, Be Romantic
Group 2 Singles Role: Be Flirty, Be Romantic
Romantic Host: Self Care, Do Home Chores, Fix Objects
9 pm - Main Activity: Leave Empty
Staff Role Activity: Free Time
Singles Role Activity: Use Hot Tub, Be Romantic
Group 2 Singles Role: Use Hot Tub, Be Romantic
Romantic Host: Free Time
Let's say I want to do my getaway again, I always select one of the pre-created getaway from my phone, then I use the drop down and select the getaway that is saved which I named Looking 4Love. I've learned never to edit the getaway while on it because things don't go well and Sims will start standing around doing nothing (This is something that needs to be addressed.)
I did introduce Maliah to 16 single Sims beforehand because I wanted them to be there. Under Role Properties make sure to set your criteria. In this case a Sim needed to be Single and the age is Young Adult and Adult.
Only the one staff person's outfits were created; gave him the butler attire. He did cook during the times he was supposed to which worked out well.
They have improved Sim's reactions when it comes to jealousy. Even if they are in a different room, the Sim will come into the room and have a reaction now. Nice touch.
Thank you for this, i've been giving staff a few chores and the chef never cooks. I'm going to go back to the drawing board and test these out thank you. The main activity seems to be the overriding factor which is the problem i am having.
I think Entomology will be more interesting than I expected :) I just discovered what the buyable insect bags (incubators) are for. I thought they were meant as an upgrade to the green plastic box, so finding my sim can actually raise butterflies instead of hunting them is a big plus! Feeding and nurting them might be a challenge on rotation, I don't know yet if the larva's life stage will freeze while I play other families. Might be better raising them fully before moving on. Hopefully that will no take more than a couple simdays :)
I would like to know if the Visitors will cook something or only eat the served food.
I think it's a bad timing to set both Serve and Eat in the same hour.
So, I've been playtesting ever since the pack came out to see how each activity works. The start time always needs to be 3 hours apart. And yes, it is a bad idea to have someone serve and them eat at the same time. If there is no food prepared, the guest will cook their own food then eat it.
At 6 am I had one staff person serve meals (this person will only cook meals) because I had 16 guest there and I wanted to make sure the Retreat Leader made enough food. Do not add another activity for the Sim who you want to cook, otherwise they may stop preparing meals to do that other activity which happened when I was testing this. So, I never select more than one activity when I want them to focus on that. Decided to only use the Main Activity for Free Time and Sleep after multiple test runs with this.
Then at 9 am, that is when the guest will eat now that their is plenty of food out. Although I like the features, they really need to tweak the Eat option. If you have Eat as an activity, as you can see in the image, the Sims just keep on eating after they finish one plate. I've tried adding more activities and they still kept on eating for three straight hours. I know they were not hungry after finishing their first plate.
At 9 pm, I wanted my Sims to have drinks at the bar. I gave the guest one activity which was to have bar drinks. I also scheduled the fitness trainers to tend the bar (I added two bars for the test). This worked well and the two fitness trainers tended the bars the whole time because that was their only activity.
