Your game sounds fun. I've never played a vampire detective, but I like the detective career. When I take my vamps out in the sun for a bit, they just get a little smokey but I've never lost one. You can easily keep them in the police station until they get stronger or use the drinks etc as you will not be out for long. You have to gather enough clues and complete a crime map before you can issue an arrest warrant and then leave the lot and patrol outside. I rarely do that. My detective is usually indoors fingerprinting and interrogating and using the computer or out collecting clues. I've never had to gather clues outdoors. It's always been at an indoor location like a bar or library.
