Aging
I played the two day trial of TS4 and was wondering how exactly aging works. Auto Age (Unplayed Sims) – Tick – Enables unplayed Sims to age over time. If disabled your Sims will not age up. Does this mean that all playable sims outside of the currently played lot age the same days as the currently played lot or only NPCs age? My ultimate intention is that I have several lots occupied by sims I want to play. Example I start out with just the one family they have kids the kids grow up and move out on their own and then I'll have at least two lots to play. In TS2 (never played 3) I'd rotate playing the lots.
However there was one minor issue I never resolved. Example first lot (mom and dad) have son or daughter over but not the rest of his or her house over. When I went to play the son or daughters house I'd have to deal with the fact that for X time the sim isn't really on the lot for during the span of time they were at the other lot. Which tended to result in inconsistencies because the sim isn't really off the lot.
And Sim Lifespan – Long, Normal, Short – Adjusts the lifespan of your Sims. The higher settings the longer your Sims live. How long are each stage with these setting options. I experimented in TS2 with lifespans but never really arrived at a conclusion. I wanted the lifespans and time it took to do things more realistic without going to the extreme of the first generation of sims never dying off as more and more generations are born. But I also didn't like the in a couple weeks of game play sims are dying off from old age.
