Ahhhh Really can't give toddlers a bottle and food without high chair

You can leave a meal out on the counter and toddlers will grab a serving, or you can pick up a plate of food from leftovers in the fridge and click on the toddler option to "Give food from inventory..." (useful when they are on a different floor to the fridge).

Give a drink is an option on the toddler, if I recall.

This apartment thing is driving me crazy, there used to be a way to call the land lord to fix broken stuff.

Yes you can do it without a high chair. I've never used high chairs in my game and always give them drinks and food

appearently it has something to do with the high chair that sippy cup and feeding food on floor. I wish they just let us get the food and the sippy cup without the high chair requirement.

I also have not used a highchair since I realized - you don't need it. Toddlers will get food off the counters ( as mentioned above ) , and the sippy cup just appears ( like the mop does for older sims) when the toddler wants it. You really don't need the highchair.

The 'give drink' and 'give food' options are greyed out if you don't have a high chair. Maybe some people have mods for this, but in a vanilla game, this is what I see. As others point out, you can have an older Sim use the 'have a quick meal' option to get those foods, but you have to cancel the action to stop them eating or drinking the food or drink, and by that time, they've already eaten half of it. I don't know whether the juice becomes a sippy cup when the toddler grabs for it (or whether the toddler can grab the drink at all from a counter).

I did have a mother autonomously give her toddler a sippy cup from the 'check toddler' action once. (The 'check toddler' action will still come up, even if autonomy is turned off.) That's the only time I've seen the sippy cup without the high chair in the game, and I normally don't play with the high chair.

In any case, I agree with the OP - I wish the 'give drink' and 'give food' were available without the high chair.

If you put food in your inventory you can give them the food without a high chair. The Toddler will take it to an available seat and sit down and eat it. :)

I play without mods most of the time, especially my hundred baby save where we have tons of toddlers. I have never put a highchair in the home and the kids always have sippy cups and we have no trouble feeding them. You can give them fresh produce in their inventory to eat, or just make a meal and call the family to dinner and the toddlers will come and grab some. You don't even need to call them to dinner actually you just need to make a meal and they will eat it. As for the sippy cups they seem to do it on their own when the check toddler I guess but it's very common, my kids always have tons of sippy cups in their inventory and they are left all over the house. I'm constantly cleaning up sippy cups LOL

I've come to prefer no highchair. While the chairs are super cute, they're also super glitchy. My patience with them ran out, so now I have the parents leave out a plate of food for the kiddos to take from.

I have a highchair(s) on the lot so I can have my Sims 'feed toddler'. Mostly, however, I just have a Sim Serve (whatever meal) and then have them call to meal. The toddler gets fed this way. I rarely give them drinks (is that wrong of me?).

OP, I feel you're dilemma. You might try to collect some extra income by having your Sim gather flowers and wild fruit and veggies and sell them. Perhaps, you can earn enough to make that purchase and still pay the rent. I played Pinstar's Legacy Challenge shortly after it came out. Your Founder starts at rock-bottom and has to build their way to having a home. They start out on the largest lot in the game, which at that time was in Willow Creek, with a very limited amount of Simoleons. Been there, done that, don't care to have my Sims scratch their way forward anymore. Best of luck to you. I do hope you're having fun!
