It is kind of lame to see Sims phasing through other Sims, counters, stereos, dipping into walls, and such to get around other Sims, but I do still prefer it to what has happened in previous Sims games.
Sims 3 had that annoying "shuffle, side-step, stand there tapping their foot" thing while they waited for others to move out of the way.
Not to mention how some worlds had spots where Sims would literally get stuck. I found a townie once that was stuck behind the Bistro. Anytime I had my camera on him he was just constantly stomping his feet, throwing a routing tantrum. Sometimes I'd find some stuck in bushes at the central park. Resetsim is a great command.
Sims 2 had the way a 1-wide staircase could have 2 Sims using it at once if one was going up and the other was going down but if 2 Sims wanted to go the same way at once, one would walk up and the other would throw a routing failure tantrum while they waited for the other to finish going up. Some issues with doors as well, too. Basically needed multiple front doors if you had more than one Sim needing to leave/enter at the same time, unless you wanted one of them to decide the back door of the house was a good alternative.
Though unfortunately, it seems they aren't exactly... improving from where they currently are at with the Sims 4.
I guess it'll be some time before we can see Sims do "advanced" routing things, like sidling past tight quarters or bending over surfaces to reach something on the far side. Not to mention how Sulani seems to have a few problem points where walkbys can get stuck in certain neighborhoods.
I will say this, I have always hated "tantrums" by Sims.
They are one of the most annoying things ever. It's like, "Just figure it out, please!".
