AI routing - lazy/unprioritized implementation?

Does anyone else feel like its like that? Seems like nobody bother to implement actual AI routing collision, where Sims just phase and clip through one another. Or didn't have enough production time, ...

Some Sims from different iterations walk into a bar.

The Sims 1 fellow angles past it.
The Sims 2 fellow waves his arms around and shouts.
The Sims 3 fellow taps his foot and waits for the bar to move.
The Sims 4 fellow walks through it.
