All my townies are mean and lazy???

I've been playing a legacy for two generations, and now that all the original townies are dead, I've noticed that 90% of the sims my characters interact with are mean and/or lazy. Other popular traits are noncommittal and kleptomaniac. Normally I wouldn't mind 'negative' traits, but at this rate it's going to overtake every single sim.
I have the mc command center mod installed which may be affecting this, but I'm not sure how or how to fix this.

  • It might be your mods, because I've noticed that few of my "regular" NPCs have any major negative traits—they do tend to be a bit more gloomy on the whole, and any paparazzi seem to spawn with the Kleptomaniac trait, but mean-and-evil sims are fairly rare. Those that do emerge get killed off. I play solely with bug-fixing mods, nothing on the order of MCCC.
  • Nah, it's not the mods. I don't use mods, and every single time I go into CAS to tweak a townie's bad fashion, I also find that they are invariably mean, lazy, erratic, evil, kleptomaniac, and/or hate children.
  • Strange, I wonder why. Maybe the game tries to have an even amount of sims in the world with both good and bad traits? So that's why townies keep getting bad traits because the other pre-made sims have good traits.

As for what you can do... you could blacklist those traits with MC Command Center so the game will not generate sims with them. Click on a computer in game, click on MC Command Center, MC Cas, Blacklist Traits.

I was not aware of that being possible, thank you.
  • I do have an old save where, in the start, I deleted everyone and created my own Sims. In this save I also did a townie rescue to populate my world (move into empty houses) and had 'move in household into empty houses' activated. In this save, I did notice that the lot of the townie Sims that spawned had the klepto trait. Didn't really notice what other traits, good or bad was also popular because I don't really mind the negative traits. I do however dislike the klepto trait which is why I noticed that a lot of game-created Sims had it.

I changed out this trait in CAS for a lot of homeless townies and even in households the game moved into empty houses for me. I do remember that I had one such generated household where all the Sims had only negative traits but only one had the klepto trait. I did take all the household in to CAS and changed out some of those bad traits out for good traits). I have not seen this happen in any of my other saves. Neither in my oldest and preferred save or any of the others.

At the time I created that particular save I didn't have any mods only cc. I do have a few mods now.
  • I play on the console. That means I'm playing game without Mods or CC, and this is actually something the game does.

If I remember correctly, the Kleptomaniacs and Snobs will actually become home invaders if doors are unlocked. When a lot reaches a certain value, you'll definitely start to see them show up at your house.
