All my townies are mean and lazy???

It might be your mods, because I've noticed that few of my "regular" NPCs have any major negative traits—they do tend to be a bit more gloomy on the whole, and any paparazzi seem to spawn with the Kleptomaniac trait, but mean-and-evil sims are fairly rare. Those that do emerge get killed off. I play solely with bug-fixing mods, nothing on the order of MCCC.
