From my understanding when reading the release was that the Sims 4 is running on a different engine than it's predecessors so my guess is that the fake back drops could be for what is yet to come but still it would have been nice to be able to have a sim set up a beach house or go snorkeling off the coast of the island of Brindleton Bay.
