Almost Lost Bob!

Bob is due to age up into a teen. So, very early in the morning of his 'birthday', he decides to help his mother out. The laundry in the hamper in the kids' bathroom is rather rank. So, he searches the pockets and decides to go start the load out in the laundry room. He sees laundry in the dryer, but it was still damp. (I promise I queued it up so that he would clean the lint trap. Why he ignored this, I haven't a clue, but the next thing I knew he was on fire.) Most of the family is in the house. It's very early in the AM. I decided to have his eldest brother extinguish him, but the teen was late to come to his second younger brother. The second eldest brother rushes the laundry room and puts the lad out. while their parents and two sisters do the 'fire!' dance.

All I know is Bob looks like burnt toast. But, he survived. I presume that's all that matters, right?

I try to avoid this by upgrading the lint trap. :D As much as I'm okay with a little chaos, I can be protective of my sims as well
  • This keeps happening to my Sims too!

My Sim teen has caught fire three times from the dryer. Patchy has caught fire too (although how he survived escapes me, being made of straw and all). It is the most dangerous appliance ever. I'm in the right mind just to chuck it and get a clothesline instead, but it rains too much.

    Glad Bob is okay!
  • You need to import a handyman "with skills" into your game and let him make the upgrading rounds. Hmm now I have an idea for a lothario handyman. It figures.
  • I haven't had any fires with the dryer, even when it wasn't upgraded. I did have my Sims change the lint trap all the time. Then again, most of the time, the dryer was waiting on the repairman.

The incense holders, on the other hand, are absolutely deadly. I used them a lot when I first got the Spa pack, but now, I rely on other objects to 'set the mood'. It's very difficult for a child to finish her homework two times while focused when she's doing the 'fire dance'. (Great description.)

oh wow i haven't had a dryer fire yet.

Lucky you. I've had several, but mostly because the butler was way too quick to do the laundry and I couldn't have a controllable Sim clean the lint trap ahead of them. :open_mouth:
  • I always have a handy sim because I try to upgrade most things to avoid breakages. The dryer is always the first thing upgraded because I often use maids, and lint trap (i believe) is the lowest level requirement of all the dryer upgrades. I hate sim fires, so it is always on my mind when making a home. I do miss the firefighters, but the fire prevention sprinklers are my BFF in Sims 4.
