My feelings are very mixed on this.
ts4 isn't making me happy with how it's dividing content. Largely because I don't feel like I am getting enough of it in one go.
Ts3 store never bothered me, because I never felt like I needed anything from it, I do feel like I need to get some ts4 packs because if I don't I will not get things like hot tubs, butlers, toddler play dates, bowling and so on. I always felt ts3 store more of added more options to chose from on items that already existed for the most part. With some premium content on the side (most of which could just be bought individually, except the stuff that came out near the end of the run)
For instance worlds, we already get worlds in ts3 and we eventually got a CAW tool, this meant I never felt any need to get any of ts3 store worlds. If I didn't want to do the work, or really liked them, I could pay to get them but getting them didn't really add new things to my game.
Same goes with pretty much all of the build/buy and cas items in the store. The only thing the store had that really was new stuff was the premium items. Some were locked behind worlds sets or venues which I did find extremely annoying, and still do find annoying.
That is pretty much my issue with ts4 is all of the new content is locked away behind items I don't really care about so I have to pay more for it. In regards to MFP the only thing I would really ever use it the hamster and death, which isn't worth 10$ in my mind. but because there is other content in it, some of which I can't even use, I still have to pay the full 10$ (13 were I am actually)
I also don't like how this system has made it so I am unlikely to see more variety in options in, for example, my hot tubs because if they add them to another pack it diminishes the selling point of one of their sps. However their sp only has two options for hot tubs which is also really limiting. Their model I think is really limiting for the customer and ultimately game design.
If they made it so pretty much everything could be picked and chosen as we wanted, and not crazy expensive for what it was, I wouldn't mind things being separated so much.
For instance Vampires are fine for what they are and being divided as they are. I think the vacation destinations could have used slightly more, but they are also ultimately fine for what they are.
If sp focused on a design/architecture theme and really fleshed it out (like kitchen stuff actually having kitchen options or movie stuff having it's furniture style for more than just a sitting room) I wouldn't mind sp being sold as they are.
Ep are a little to expensive in my mind for slicing up. For 40-50$ depending on region they need to be quite full considering you can buy some complete base games for less than them. I don't know how to help ep, with the sp gp model they don't really have a place any more because their content is spread to thin.
TL:DR Yes I have concerns and issues with how things have been divided in ts4 but it is more complicated then dividing things up, it's how they are dividing things up that matters.
