Wants-Based Gameplay?
Hello, everyone! I am newish to the Sims 4 game but am really enjoying it so far and have found that half of the fun is interacting with all the people here on the EA forums. I've never started a new discussion topic and am not sure how it'll go, but I have a few questions that I'm having trouble finding answers for here or elsewhere.
I'm still trying to nail down "my" playstyle in order to continue to find consistent enjoyment with the game but have been having a bit of trouble doing so. I'm not really one to micro-manage my Sim world and sort of like the idea of letting my Sim's decide their own fate. I actually really like just watching them as opposed to playing them. This sounds a bit odd, but I've always been more of a watcher than a doer. Unfortunately, this isn't really an option with the Sims 4, as Sims don't really seem to be the brightest creatures and will really only do a handful of things, like watching television, reading, and taking care of their needs. I also noticed that a single Sim living alone in a house will just become sad all the time because of their unwillingness (except in rare scenarios) to go out and meet new Sims and fill their social needs without the prompting of the player. I've been experimenting recently with aspirations-based gameplay but have found even this to be repetitive because of the pre-determined nature of each aspiration.
And then there are wants, the central topic of this post. I really like that wants are randomized and can be refreshed whenever (with some toggling of the game settings), but these too are limited. I've played a few rotations with the base game pre-made Sims and their wants and have found this to be enjoyable to some degree, if not repetitive. I guess what I'm trying to get at here is this: is there a way to make Sims do EVERYTHING for themselves with minimal input from the player? Or, at least, is there a way to create more wants so that there's more variety, and perhaps even more relevance to the various packs that have been released (as far as I know, wants were only created for the base game)? I have had the MC Command Center mod recommended to me, but after playing around with this one found that the settings seemed only to apply to un-played households. Active households seemed to be exempt from settings such as the marriage and pregnancy ones. And there are so many wants-based mods that I don't know which one to try. Mods as a whole make me a bit nervous. I don't want to mess up my game or, heaven forbid, my computer because I downloaded the "wrong" link.
Any advice on these topics would be appreciated! Thank you in advance, :)
