Well personally - just like I liked the Sims 3 store -as an option - I like even stuff packs for eps as much as stuff packs for the base game and all builds in between. They are simply options. If you like the option you buy it. If you don't - then don't buy it but don't say they should not make that content because you believe - it belonged in the ep - disregarding any possible reasoning the devs give as to why these kind of additions were not in the ep.
I personally think the sp was made by the sp team to fill in the void that simmers complained were not in the ep. The sp came out 4 months after the ep - not at the same time. If they had made the sp a year later - some of you say that would have been okay. I don't get that. It would have still been an sp for an ep.
The difference is that it was clearly planned this way and that is what concerns people. You keep focusing on that SP but the concern is about the two of them together, clearly created to be released (and charged) together. “If we develop an EP with just cats and dogs, we can put small pets in an additional pack, put some suits in there too. And this furniture set, we could split that in two. You know what they’re like, collectors, they’ll buy.” People are concerned (also because there just might follow other pets, like horses and birds and reptiles). EP’s for Sims 4 haven’t been exactly impressive for many players to begin with (your observation simmers felt a void in fact supports the concern, it doesn’t contradict is as you seem to assume), they favour the quality of SP’s and GP’s. And now this. That is the issue and nothing else, people being concerned.
Completely agree this was planned from the onset, some time ago to be broken up to fleece more money. In fact I wouldn't be surprised if MFP was originally convieved to part of C&D but then deliberately split up. We know it and they certainly knew it, but luckily they now know we see through the scheming.
You know what - I don't care. You don't have to buy it if you object.
The fact is the devs said they had to choose small pets OR vet career. So even if the sp team had said - good then we will make the small pets and any extra content you guys are out of budget to make - way back when they were still making the ep - how on earth is this a bad thing? I do not get it if the only way we got this content was done this way, or any other way because people complained of missing content - then fine - at least we got the option to get it.
Does not matter how Sims 1 -2 -3 did things - this is now and how Sims 4 does things. You don't have to like it - but don't try to tell me I have to agree with you or be part of what I fear will keep the sp devs from offering those of us that have no objections to more content from rethinking the idea of doing more such packs. When your complaints affect me - then I get upset - and I don't care if 300 people agreed with you - as long as I buy my own game and you don't buy it for me - I should also have the options to buy what I like and for the devs to be able to make items I enjoy - and not feel the wrath of some simmer that apparently want less options.
At the end of the day, no one is forcing you to agree with them. I don't see how someones feedback to the game has an effect on you personally. If you're enjoying the game no one should be able to steer you the other way and no one can ruin it for you.
I believe EA could care less about our negative opinions on MFP (It shows in how they handled the backfire on what they did with MFP) and on the game as a whole. I believe, at the end of the day, they will continue to do what they want to do as they always have. This is just where I am with this version or vision of the game. I was under the impression from the beginning that I, the player, would rule over MY game and it just keeps seeming more and more to me that they're doing the ruling. So best believe you don't need to worry about getting less content because of people like myself or anyone else giving negative feedback on this iteration.
As long as people continue to buy they will continue to believe they aren't doing anything wrong and keep making more content as such, which in this case is something you and others who have similar opinions want. Which is fine. To each their own. But simmers like myself will walk away from it and not support this franchise anymore. As sad as that is, sometimes things like this happen. But again at the end of the day, you enjoy the game keep playing it and just disregard what we have to say about it.
