To answer the main question, yes, I am concerned about how Sims 4 is broken up. I'm ok with the concept of a main game & additional packs to a point, but they've gone too far with the carving up the game and selling things to us piecemeal. The My First Pet stuff pack is a prime example of this. It should have been included with Cats & Dogs, and to sell it separately seems to me like a really gross and blatant money grab.
But the packs were made by different teams at different times - plus the fact since Sims 4 came out the head of SPs even stated he makes the sps on items Simmers ask for that neither the ep or gp team are making. So I cannot relate to your answer - even if things in the eps were in the games that way before - that is not how they do it now. I never imagined a butler or Nanny in a sp - but for certain families both are must haves for me - and if they were not in an sp I would not have them - and that is a fact. We cannot force ep and gp teams to make that packs how we think they should be or how they were before - so the only two options left is get them in the sp or go without them. I choose not to go with out things my game has always had - and if it is the ONLY way to get these things - then that is the way I have to get them if I want them.
Like one of the devs on the ep team said early in the development of the game when someone complained of things not in his ep that usually was - The head dev said - "Things change"
You could tell right then and there they had a vision, a direction they were going - and that's just the way it is.
I know myself one way or the other I am getting what I want and expect into my game as long as it is offered in some way - and if this is the way I have to go - then so be it - as being stubborn about it - and holding my ground against it would not have gotten me my Butler. People did say the Nanny should have been in the Parenthood Pack later on when it came out too don't forget. It didn't make a lot of sense why it came with the sp - but that is what the sps are apparently for this go round - to bring stuff we complain about to the game when eps and gps don't have them. To be fair - they did make the nannies a free download - but people still said it should have been in Parenthood long after we already had them. So some complained anyway and that was even free.
At least adding pet things to another pet pack makes more sense.
But to each their own.
