@Writin_Reg I almost always agree with your posts although I know we have different likes as simmers and how we play our games.
I'm also an older simmer and I still enjoy the game and what is being put out. It's always funny to me when people assume I must have never played past sims games. I also agree with you on the this is now mentality. Get with it or get on... and no I'm not telling other simmers to leave. It's my attitude for myself. I'll definitely not join some crusade to take down an industry .. that's like spitting in the wind and waiting for it to come back and smack you. I'd rather do something that's enjoyable, thanks. Besides this game is the best one so far for me. Why would I want it to stop?
As for the game being made to suit all ages. This is the way things are now. Everything now is politically correct and they do not wish to be overly offensive to a broader public. I can't blame them... there are a lot of different viewpoints they are trying to cater too with this game. They also have to make money.. this is no small indie start up game where the creator just does what he/she wants.. that's a great thing for itself but this is the sims and it's much larger than that now. Ratings for games need to be catered to for a world wide audience. If you want niche stuff or mature stuff in your game.. they have made it very mod friendly. I take advantage of that personally from time to time.
For those that feel they are being left behind. You are probably right. The next game might suit you better. I hope one day to see a dual rating type of game myself. If I had my way it would be a cross between the sims and GTA.. and that will never happen. I gotta say though as long as they keep it mod friendly I'm sure I'll try whatever comes in the future. I don't believe people are right in the game going belly up because of not catering to a segment of it's fandom. There are always new simmers being born, growing up and wanting to try the newest game. The population alone will keep it popular. I think the only thing that might truly drag it down is if they try to cater in ways that will give us a non-stable game.
