@Writin_Reg I almost always agree with your posts although I know we have different likes as simmers and how we play our games.
I'm also an older simmer and I still enjoy the game and what is being put out. It's always funny to me when people assume I must have never played past sims games. I also agree with you on the this is now mentality. Get with it or get on... and no I'm not telling other simmers to leave. It's my attitude for myself. I'll definitely not join some crusade to take down an industry .. that's like spitting in the wind and waiting for it to come back and smack you. I'd rather do something that's enjoyable, thanks. Besides this game is the best one so far for me. Why would I want it to stop?
As for the game being made to suit all ages. This is the way things are now. Everything now is politically correct and they do not wish to be overly offensive to a broader public. I can't blame them... there are a lot of different viewpoints they are trying to cater too with this game. They also have to make money.. this is no small indie start up game where the creator just does what he/she wants.. that's a great thing for itself but this is the sims and it's much larger than that now. Ratings for games need to be catered to for a world wide audience. If you want niche stuff or mature stuff in your game.. they have made it very mod friendly. I take advantage of that personally from time to time.
For those that feel they are being left behind. You are probably right. The next game might suit you better. I hope one day to see a dual rating type of game myself. If I had my way it would be a cross between the sims and GTA.. and that will never happen. I gotta say though as long as they keep it mod friendly I'm sure I'll try whatever comes in the future. I don't believe people are right in the game going belly up because of not catering to a segment of it's fandom. There are always new simmers being born, growing up and wanting to try the newest game. The population alone will keep it popular. I think the only thing that might truly drag it down is if they try to cater in ways that will give us a non-stable game.
I totally agree - but it did take me a longer time to get onboard with Sims 4 - and now I can enjoy it. That said - I still enjoy Sims 2 and 3 as well learned to enjoy this version of the Sims on it's own merits - as I surely was not ready to toss in the towel. I wanted to get onboard - it just took getting the right additions and content for me able to find my place in this version.
Like I said the teens in my family are enjoying it and cannot see why older simmers are going on about geting more fun content in the sp for an ep debacle. They want more small animal packs and bigger animal eps too. Their moms (and a few dads even) who are also simmers told them to stay off the forums, they'll be happier for it - which did not surprise me anyway as most of them (the moms) got off the forums after all the fussing when Sims 3 came out. LOL.
I am the only one of 32 Simmers in the family that still comes to the forums. Although most of the others do go to the Twitter and facebook Sims page to see whats new - they will not come here at all any more.
