Why the development is so "difficult" with millions of dollars of revenue ?
I mean The Firemonkeys got many simple good ideas for The Sims FreePlay with a lower budget
Why should it suddenly become impossible in The Sims 4 ?
"Difficult" isn't an argue when we already invested billions of dollars.
I believe Fire Monkeys gets their budget from EA as they are listed as an EA company. Which could be either bought out by EA or an EA partner - but either way they are listed under EA's branding. Don't forget Maxis was like that as well for several years.
You see this - this tells me also they belong to EA and EA gives them their budget just like Maxis:

From Wikipedia:
”Firemonkeys Studios is a developer and publisher of video games, based in Melbourne, Australia. It was founded in 1999 by CEO Robert Murray as Firemint. Originally an independent company, in May 2011, Electronic Arts announced the acquisition of Firemint for an undisclosed sum, making it an in-house studio for EA Interactive. IronMonkey Studios were also taken under EA Interactive's wing back in 2010.
In January 2011, Firemint acquired fellow Australian video game developer Infinite Interactive, best known for the Puzzle Quest series. In July 2012, Firemint announced a post on their blog that Firemint would merge with IronMonkey Studios by EA and merge their names into Firemonkeys. All new games, including Need for Speed: Most Wanted and Real Racing 3, are released with the new company name.”
So you are of course right. They get their budget from EA and was bought by EA especially because EA wanted their successful racing games. But also because they had made many mobile games too and therefore were chosen by EA to make the Sims Freeplay even though they never had made a Sims game before.
But all this once again shows that it isn’t really the developers who make the important decisions. Instead it has always been EA’s management who make those decisions and EA’s management have experimented a lot with the Sims concept to make Sims games for many platforms and to make those Sims games as different from the main PC games as possible. In the same way it of course also must have been EA’s management who always have wanted each new PC Sims game as different from its predecessors as possible. And it has also always been EA’s management who wanted sidegames to be much smaller than the main games such that simmers soon would return to the main games again.
But simmers still listen too much to the devs who of course don’t want to break the illusion about the devs being much more important and having much more influence and power than they really have ;)
