Anyone had a bug with stuff disappearing when building walls on platform?

I ask behalf of my friend who is building a house and encountered a bug. I tried to look for similar issues from Answers HQ, but didn't find one, just thought that I would ask here first if it sounds ...

I'm not sure if it's by design or or a bug but, I'm pretty sure it has to do with the wall height (and of course platforms). You can't place kitchen cabinets in a kitchen with a short wall height, without the move objects cheat. Several curtains delete as well.
