I love apartments, and always have my sims start in one because the rent is cheap (talking about the haunted history one that costs 600 simoleons a month). However, as my sim gets more money, I usually move him or her to a house to make room for some gardening, a rocket or whatever won't fit in an apartment, so I guess all in all, the house wins.
