If the system let a Sim take a day off without using vacation days then a player would be able to set up No work/school holidays everyday of the calendar. A Sim would be able to never work but still pull in a paycheck or pass school.
As it is now, a player can still setup infinite day off holidays, but if you go over the number of vacation days you have then no paycheck/school is earned for that day.
The checkbox on the holiday screen was put there to make taking a day off easier. That way, when a holiday approaches, you don't need to go to each one of your Sims and call in a vacation day.

what would be wrong with that? Some players would love it! Think homeschooling, pretend being on health benefits, unemployment benefits - whatever the player can imagine. This could be the perfect system in which to do it.
Instead, people are now asking for cheats - which is pretty ironic seeing as you were trying to prevent exploitation in the first place. (I play with aging off, which is probably the biggest exploitation to this game there is, but if it wasn't there, I don't think it would have kept my interest for 18 years of simming).
No need to over-complicate things. And I don't believe you need to enforce a moral compass on players either. If they want to play where every day is a holiday, well, that's their fun, they paid their money to play that way, what harm are they doing to other players or developers?
We all live in countries that have different ways of handling holidays etc. You've already set up an option button whether to take a day off work, or not, let it be up to us how we use it without worrying about it taking away from earned vacation days.
I would prefer if holidays were kept separate from vacation days (
not taken from vacation like they are now). I want to be able to make National Public Holidays where their govt. has given them a day off work/school, as well as accumulate separate vacation days (from school/work) they can take off any time to go away to Destination worlds, or take a "sickie" or rest day, or whatever I think up.
Anyway, Great Job on the Holiday maker, I love it. I would love it even better if the public holidays
didn't take away from the earned vacation days.
