In some cases I've been able to use the rope line to keep out everybody but my Rock Star, (unless, of course Judith shows up). But, it is and has been an ongoing problem, at least for me.
I think it has to do with how different objects work to an extent. Karaoke machines has a "viewing distance" (they are seriously coded so that spectators don't come closer than three or maybe two squares unless they can't avoid it) that actually makes stages work while for some reason pianos in longues still have the "street musician" thing trigger and Sims climb on top of each other to go and the artist using the instrument, which is awfully lazy coded.
Yes, and no, actually. This karaoke has been modified by
Sacrificial creator of the Road to Fame mod, to enable Sims to give concerts. However, before I put up barriers, of a sort, in one particular venue, fans used to just sashay up and start to sing. Even as my star was onstage setting up the concert. (They get invitations, you get to choose the where and when within a limited amount of time via the phone). In fact markers come with this mod. Arrows you can place for the audience to stand and watch. I should apply those to this venue. One patch totally disrupted the original venues I had collected from the Gallery and so I had to start my collection all over again. Thankfully, players are making them. Lost my favorite one, however. Couldn't find it again. :'(
