I play both but I ended up voting "mostly occults". That's not supposed to mean numbers but my overall investment. I actually have more non-occult sims (I think, unless werewolves tipped the scales) BUT I do tend to favor my occults which means I have more playtime on them. Though, then again, I often have mixed families so I simultaneously play non-occults.
I have actually never created an occult sim in CAS. Every single sim of mine has started as "normal", then some of them eventually turned to occults because it just fit them so well and/or because I grew really attached to them and wanted to "preserve" them by turning them immortal. Becoming an occult is an immersive way for me to do that.
So, knowing the origins of my occult sims it's no wonder they overall tend to grab my attention more and why they feel like they have more personality. Many of them had a rather redefined roleplay already which then got augmented once they became occults.
However, I still aim to keep their numbers in check so they don't cease feeling special.
