There are too many bugs with Eco-living and the Island Living content still feels incomplete with a multitude of missed opportunities.
I’m hesitant to buy new packs until the old ones are complete and bugs are fixed. Eco-living has an annoying bug that will interrupt interactions by spawning items to complete an action in the sims inventory. It will spawn new items for every single interaction. Books and Future Cubes are game breakers.
I’m hopeful that some basic stuff can be patched for merfolk as there is half a merform that is incomplete for Toddlers and Children. For Toddlers, they need to create a swimming animation for toddlers that develops similar to the movement skill. Children use the same swimming animation as adults. Children that get their tails as teens already seek out the ocean to swim. Both the Toddlers and Children need smaller versions of existing tail designs. Because merfolk are aquatic occult’s, not including a form for the different life stages makes even less sense, considering where a merfamily lives. Even though Sulani Mana appears to be an exception to the rule for occult abilities manifesting, merchildren and mertoddlers do not need to have mermadic powers. And, this is just one of the things that appears half finished.
Edit: The toddlers swimming in the water was me getting ahead of myself. For the games current state, it might only work for the times merfolk use their swimwear. An underwater residential lot might require more. I’ve played enough with merfolk in the child life-stage to know for certain that children start autonomously going to the ocean and swimming if they are merfolk. I don’t have a problem with their behavior, but it is strange seeing them start to behave like merfolk and not have a form. I have a recent screenshot of a merboy back floating autonomously to regain energy. It was almost as if the game was trying to have him sleep in the water, but because he didn’t have a merform, he couldn’t regain energy in the water.
Merfolk can interact with mirrors to perform many interactions without leaving the water, but there are interactions introduced with other expansion packs that can’t be performed even though the actions are not expected to be different from what can be done. My merfolk sims can even try on different outfits without leaving the water with the right mirror. The content that came after Island Living doesn’t work like the stuff that came before it. There appears to be a difference in what is built in with each new pack that doesn’t exactly come with the new pack as expected. I have been pushing the limits of an aquatic home in my game.
But anyways, those are just my examples. Similar problems can be found in almost every pack. I struggle to believe this won’t be true in new packs. The worst part is how some of this appears to be fixable by copying and pasting code or making adjustments to designs that already exist. I don’t have the computer skill, but it still looks to easy to patch in some of these fixes if someone took the time.
