Realistic players play with normal lives where going to work each day and earning money for your bills and buy things as you can afford them is important. Fantasy players buy everything there hearts desire including biggest house, best furniture, swimming pools, all the best electronics, etc, etc, etc. and play with unlimited money. Also, while magic, supernatural, werewolf, and vampire packs are super fun and exciting, they fall into the fantasy pile. which player are you Realistic, or Fantasy, or Both?

I definitely prefer the "rags to riches" route, starting with what little I have left in a cheap apartment. However, no sim can make a decent living on the job's paycheck alone, so I add royalties to the pile, and sell certain things through a certain mod which I'm not certain is allowed to talk about here. I don't see the fun in starting with a big house and cheat money, but I don't judge.

I think you need a third option -- both. My Sims don't use money cheats and go to regular jobs, have families, etc. But I also have an alien in one household and a former vampire in another. I like to take advantage of some of the fantasy stuff we get from the Sims, but the way I play is mostly realistic.

I started this save using freerealestate, because I'm playing a bunch of households I found in an old save on a thumbdrive when transferring my files from my old to my new computer. Kind of putting them back where they were, so to speak. They're in various levels of wealth, some in the mansions, some in the middle class or starter homes. But now, going forward, kids moving out & newly created households will start at the beginning.

Vampires can also work 9 to 5, these plasma packs aren't gonna pay themselves.

@happyopi Hear, hear, and you'll need to consume 3 in a row to satisfy the thirst, so they fly fast. And I don't have the patience to find a "zillion" fish and frogs to turn into plasma packs, so I always buy them. xD

I like my sims to earn what they have so I guess in that sense I'm a realistic player. I do play with some vampires in my game though so maybe I'm not 100% realistic. I don't cheat money as I see no point in that generally.

I enjoy the rags to riches playstyle, but some sims get to start with mansions and as business owners if it fits their backstory. The farm owner has to abide to a very different set of houserules than his employees or the robot workers. And the furniture factory apprentices have their own club rooms upstairs, so whatever financial situation they come from, high quality party and entertainment items are just one loading screen away.
I also enjoy supernaturals a lot, so overall I'm a fantasy player.
