So about a month ago now I started a sims 4 forever world and have been trying to build out the lore etc. But, I’m about to go on a week long holiday and wanted to hear some tips people have for jumping back in?
I have a little notebook atm that I have all my character profiles in and keep a little journal of everything I do in each playthrough.
I basically do the same. Started using a notebook in Sims 2 as I rotate and needed to keep track of where I left off. I use a notebook in Sims 4 with a section for each neighborhood, list my sims living there leaving room for adding family members as they come along. Also include info on each such as job, age, date of birth. I use a pencil so can change info as needed. I lost my game due to computer issues so am basically starting over, but haven't had time due to real life being very busy right now. Slowly creating my sims I want in my game and found that the notebook came in handy as can look back and see the names of my sims and their details so can be close to the sims I had before. Can't wait to start really playing again!
I do the same. Been keeping notebooks for all the important things in game since I first started playing past one or two generations. Really helpful when you haven't played in awhile and need a refresher.
I only actively play four families, currently a total of 10 sims, all related, so it's pretty easy to mentally keep track of what's happening. Just in case though I post updates, pics, achievements, etc in my story thread in Creative Corner.
I do keep a word document of each update.
I have 16 households, all related in some way, that I rotate through. That number will grow with the next generation. I keep a Word document with a page for each household, I only keep very basic info on each sim, but it does help me stay on top of things. I also keep numerous paper notepads near me for making quick notes about things I see when I go to a venue or someone's house that need fixed and things I might see here in the forums that I might want to try.
I have a very poor memory so it's essential that I make notes and take screenshots. I currently have 16 households and they each have a folder on my computer for screenshots and then I write some details down in my Kindle Scribe. I used to keep a normal notebook but I am really fussy about making mistakes and changes, so my Scribe allows me to rub things out and delete them or re-arrange them easily. I'm also forever changing my mind about things so it helps with that too lol.
I usually write to the household info what is going on with the family. I do have a wordpad document where I have written some stuff, but I haven't updated it for some time now. I also take screenshots. I wish I wrote down more, but I guess I'm a bit lazy 😅
I play on rotation with over 200 sims at this point so I keep a couple of documents which keep track of what sims I have, where they live, family trees, what key relationships they have, and then keep a small list of key points that I write based on previous play session (written as I play) to look back on for the next play session
I rotate by my 3 different timelines. Sometimes play a full family or small family or a single sim or build my worlds. My timeline game saves are:
And my Unliniar (testing game save) where the Rewards Events, Testing New Packs & outside of my Timelines. I used to have Prehistoric & Futuristic Timeline game saves, but it was too much for my computer storage & for me to keep up. So 3 Timelines are enough for me now. Oh, I also only play vanilla with a lot of packs.
I keep notebooks as well. I also post on tumblr and save documents with photos of what I post just for my own records.
I really like the new feature in the notebooks in-game where you can leave a bio for each sim. I wish there was more space where you could also keep track of what's going on in your sims' lives. Right now I use it to write down goals for my next gameplay.
I play a historical save, going on gen 4 now in 1970s so for now 90 years have passed and keeping track is a bit of a mess, but I have a few things I do.
