Assigning University Roommates

Is there a way to assign specific sims to be non-playable roommates in DU dorms instead of the game generating random roommates? I'm definitely open to using a mod if someone knows of one. I use a mod that doesn't allow random sims to generate in the game, so right now, no roommates will generate, period, and I would love to be able to assign some of the unplayed sims I have in my game. I know that when a sim is living in a normal house that they can ask a sim to be their roommate - does that work in the dorms too? I just don't have much experience playing this pack yet so I was trying to prepare for my sim going off to college soon! Thanks!
  • @Greyling, there is no such thing as "didn't get accepted" into university. Lack of acceptance just means a sim doesn't qualify for distinguished degrees, they still can enroll for normal degrees.
Not explicitly called out in her instructions, but you would actually enroll (and choose a degree) all the sims in those "other households" and have them move to the dorms before then marking that household as "unplayed" again. It's the only way to move them into other dorms in the first place.
  • I hope someone will suggest a mod that will do exactly what you want.

Here are a couple of ideas that are sort of close.

    1. Use a residential lot. Change an existing dorm lot to residential, or make a different Britechester residential lot into a "student house" to be shared by several people. Put the right number of beds in and invite people to be roommates in the way you described.
    2. Make two or three households living in the different dorm lots of your university. Put your played sim in one household, and put the "fellow students" in the other household(s). Then mark the "fellow students" unplayed. They won't live in the same dorm, but they will be in college at the same time, you'll see them as walkbys on campus, and you can always have your played sim visit them and enjoy their university student vibe.

  • Tada!

  • I am not sure if whatever mod you are using will conflict with MCCC, but the latter lets you set your game so that any NPCs that are required are taken from your library of sims. The mod you are using may also have a similar setting.

Its a bit of a faff to set up if your library is a hotchpotch of half built sims and other random households like mine was, but it can all be organised relatively painlessly using Sim Tray Importer.

Can I ask a question regarding this option? I hope it’s okay that I do.
If you make a household of sims that you’d like to attend university at the same time as your own, but you don’t want to play them, and you then put them in another dorm, like you suggested, do they risk getting kicked out because they didn’t get accepted into university or will the game assign a random major for them or doesn’t it matter in terms of them being able to stay in the dorms?

Ahh, that was the catch. I knew there was something just couldn’t remember what it was. Thanks ?
