Audio crackly/skipping

Apologies if this is the wrong thread but since the latest January patch the audio keeps skipping and making a crackly noise every 20ish seconds.
It's really distracting and to me making the game unplayable. I've checked other games/videos and this is not my laptop causing the problem as everything else works fine.
I've tried to repair the game and restarted several times but the issue hasn't gone.
Anyone else experiencing this problem? (please move this if I've posted in the wrong thread.)

  • This keeps happening to me too. Its been going on for a while but now its getting very old.. I tried everything that I could think of. There isn't even anything on this subject on YouTube. Restarting the game, changing settings in the game, changing my audio, turning off my 7.1 audio. Nothing seems to works. Sorry I couldn't help you with is chickenow but at least you aren't alone
  • I think I just fixed it actually!!! What I did is I had sims 4 running and I went to my task manager, scrolled down to my audio ( Realteck HD Audio Manager) , I right clicked on it and pressed "Go to details"

Once I was at the details I just scrolled down to "TS4_x64.exe" right clicked it, Set priority, and I set mine to above normal. I had to do it twice but I guess it is a temporary fix because I noticed if I x out the game I have to do the same thing again. But its better than nothing for right now!

Hopefully it works for you :)
