autonomous laundry

I had no idea that Sims can do laundry autonomously, I was pleasantly surprised to see them doing that. Will any sim do this or do they have to have a specific trait?

What they DON'T do autonomously is clean the lint trap. A fire broke out, two other sims ran INTO the laundry room to see the fire and they all caught on fire. Luckily I had a fourth sim to extinguish the other three, but I do like the autonomy in this situation.
  • The LINT TRAP! That's why my stupid butler keeps setting the house on fire. Duh!

What traits did the Sim have?

I think he has the "neat" trait, but I honestly don't remember. I would have to look later.

YEP! They won't clean it themselves! You have to command a sim to do it!

That's weird, my sims have never done laundry by themselves so far. They do sometimes get a whim, but never act on it.

Maybe I should go a few weeks without telling them to do it, perhaps someone will finally get fed up with the dirty clothes everywhere and get off their high horse... >:)

I am playing an ISBI challenge and can confirm that sims do laundry autonomously. Take it out of the basket, into the washer and out of the washer into the dryer, the whole process. I have four household members that I do not control and two of them do laundry autonomously and neither have the neat trait. The two who don't do laundry have the lazy or slob trait, so that makes sense. Unfortunately I had to lock the laundry room because cleaning the lint trap is not an autonomous action and they keep setting themselves and the room on fire. Constantly guarding the dryer is not my idea of a challenge.
At the end of the day I don't really mind as I was never planning to use laundry in any other household, but this has to be a nuisance to all the laundry enthusiasts.

  • I thought they built in where butlers or maids would clean the lint trap.. if doing laundry or starting it. I don't have laundry in the one home I have a butler in so never tested it.

I was very pleased to have a couple of single sims do laundry autonomously but I have them check lint trap just to make sure. These tiny laundry rooms (mine) are waaay too confined to have a fire, lol.

I've noticed something else about Laundry Day sp, what is this picking at your clothes, all the time. What's up with that? They will stop doing what they're doing to pick and brush at their clothes. I have the clean clothes buff, so why the picking? Anyone else?
