I love the Autonomy off for selected sim setting. I don't think I found out about it until I'd been playing this iteration for a year.. then I never looked back.
When I control my active sim... I always have the next activity planned anyway and if I start them on a lengthy activity I can always switch over to another household member. It's also kind of fun to just control one sim only and see how the other sim/sims do when you barely or never control them as a different way to play. Usually though micromanager me has to hop from sim to sim and get them started on what I feel they need to do anyway.
