I agree with what Sharonia said, and now with what you said. Yous put it into better words than I could.
I'm more technical thinking myself. What I like about Sims 4 is (that although I know it's programing), the simulated human part is fun. What they do creatively, socially, and emotionally, rather than the constant technical biological needs. :)
That's so interesting. Well, I do really enjoy the technical stuff, like filling up their meters, but also I really like all the other tasks that the game presents to complete, the aspirations, career tasks, whims, etc. I guess for me though, I totally agree, the creative, emotional, social stuff is the best, but for me it all comes from my imagination instead of the simulation. And I tend to look at their whims to see what they want, rather than ever watch them. I create in my imagination based on what the game tells me about the character, like their bio, their traits, their skills if they have any, their whims, even the clothes they are wearing, and then I fall in love with their personalities so I enjoy playing them based on who I think they are. I've never really thought to watch them, what they do autonomously, to see who they are. I'm going to try again and see what I find out. I've played with autonomy on in the past, but my Sims are boring, they literally just take naps, get in idle chats, and play on the computer. I never paid close attention I guess. ? (I'm stealing this icon lol, it's cute and I couldn't find it in the menu above)

They flirt autonomously? That's interesting. I thought they couldn't do that. I thought you had to choose if you want them to open up the romance bar with a Sim. I've never seen an NPC Sim flirt autonomously with anyone. Only social and funny chat options.
I had one test save right after Realm of Magic came out - I sent the sim with Morgan to raid the plants and left them alone for 5 minutes while I went to the bathroom. I came back to a 15% romance bar...
See, that does make me want to try autonomy on and see if they will autonomously choose a romantic partner. That's really cool. I didn't know that happened. And if they choose someone and get married, do they then flirt and cheat on their married spouse? :o
