A lot of us want babies untied from the crib, but do you think it will make the baby lifestage much better? I mean, they are still objects in Sims 4. Being able to carry them around the house will not make them that much more entertaining imo.
Now if they decide to;
A ) Free them from the cribs
B ) Make more things for them i.e. changing table, strollers, toys etc.
C ) Maybe different clothes
D ) Being able to bathe them
E ) All in all make them not just objects..
THAT would be a real improvement imo. I think it will be nice to free them from the cribs for a day but it will get the same old again if they don't decide to do a complete overhaul to them, which I think is extremely unlikely to happen sadly :/
And about the baby in the renders; don't get your hopes up too much because of that, because like some people already mentioned; they have been using this baby in renders for a very long time.
I think that's the point most of us are making when we say free the babies. We are expecting to be able to do more than just carry them.
Yeah it would still be nice to not leave my infant at home while I go somewhere, but if they do this it will have to include strollers, hopefully one day car seats, and give them some life stage moodlets like hearing them laugh for the first time, maybe they say their first word, when they first sit up and start crawling. I've actually had a baby so I know that there is a lot that can be done with the infant stage. That's when all the firsts of everything happen people.
Unfortunately, I don't think these things will happen.
Sure, including a changing table, baby bathtub, clothes, etc. would create a nice opportunity to release a STUFF PACK that would actually be well-received by the community. A nice rebound from MFP Stuff, and also a way for them to make some money back on the work-intensive overhaul that needs to be done with babies.
That being said, strollers and car seats are unlikely to happen since we don't have an open world. The only way I can think to implement moodlets for babies would be to make them playable, and... I'm just not sure how that would be done? Even their first laugh, first word, etc. would be difficult without implementing a memory system back into TS4.
I think they'll stay "objects", or rather NPCs, but I do think we'll see some nice items/animations/interactions added that at least make them seem more human.
