Base game characters

Just bought Get Famous and while I love the new components to the game, I’m so underwhelmed by the celebrities and their lack of storyline. Besides one celeb sim, they don’t even look that cool. Is it too much to ask for some hot sims with fun storylines? Maybe I just need to stop buying these packs expecting it to make my game more interesting for me.

Don’t get me wrong, all the packs I’ve bought have been AWESOME. I am just driven by stories more than anything and just feel like something is missing. Maybe I need to stop comparing the Sims 4 to Sims 2. Even though it was like 10 years ago, TS4 has never reached family storyline greatness of TS2. They still have yet to establish any type of working legacy in the game. All the base families had a story to work with, memories to explore, and mysteries to uncover.

I do see them trying though, like in Vampires for example, great looking base vampires, but no real storyline. It would have been so cool to take it a step further and have a mystery and secret aspect like we see in Strangerville. LOVE Strangerville by the way, what an awesome surprise that was.

While overall the Sims 4 is my all time favorite game, and with respect to the hard working men and women who create it, I see lack of family legacy as a crucial missing component to Sims 4, especially in comparison to older versions. Is it just me?

  • It's not you, there are many who feel the same way. I do like Sims 4, but even when they have a story to tell, their actual relationship is just not there. For example Don Lothario and the Calientes, they make it sound like there is a romance going on there, but when you get into actual gameplay with them, Don is not romantically involved with anyone.
  • Well, as a sandbox game maybe they feel people want to make up their own stories. Some people complain about strangeville because there is a story. I don’t know why, we were given a large world for a gamepack, and some nice build items.and I too like the mystery, it adds a certain little extra something. I loved the active careers and the work places that came in ‘Get to Work’. But so many people complained that it ‘wasn’t sandbox enough’, so they have watered down the careers, I’m so disappointed about that as I loved the depth of the active careers. I was hoping the military career would be active rather than just marching around and sparing with people.

Stories from premades are actually cool in Strangerville. You need a bit of imagination to flesh them out, but it feels they have a real purpose and weren't just thrown in the neighborhood for no reason.

This is why I don't play premades. I have always created my own Sims, even in Sims2. I like to create their story, too. Why don't you simply create a story for the premade celebs? The ones that aren't so 'hot' as you put it, perhaps they achieved their fame through the reported "casting coach". It's real and it did happen. Or, you could put your own spin on just why they are where they are.

While it doesn't sound as if I sympathize with you, I do find myself missing the backstory tidbits they used to give us. Like I said, I was never compelled to use the premades and in fact only played them under the terms of Pinstar's Legacy Challenge rules, which I have played at least once each iteration, starting with Sims2. I successfully completed it twice. Sims2 and then Sims4. My Sims3 attempt got interrupted by a catastrophic illness that kept me in the hospital for three weeks, and then rehab for another two weeks. After my close shave with death, I decided I had to finish the series in my Siggie, below. By the time I got back to my Legacy Challenge, it had been so long, I couldn't pick up the story thread anymore. and I found there was little to no way I could complete my Heirs' Aspiration of Gold Digger. She tried to have the old man drown, but he kept climbing out the side of the pool. One of the severe drawbacks of Sims3. Muted, dumb-down, almost unplayable. I deleted my Legacy game save.

I'm fully enjoying GF. I think the team did an awesome job on the celebrity points system. It makes far better sense to me, now, anyway. Also, I'm using the Road to Fame mod that has been updated to augment GF for those of us who wish our celebrities to be in the singing career. That was my favorite part of Sims3. So, I'm in seventh heaven.

A sim being 'hot' is gonna be pretty subjective from person to person. :p I actually like the premade celebrities for the Bailey-moon family and Judith Ward. The bailey-moon family background is pretty interesting that's written.

I mentioned this is another thread I made it's more so the set up for better stories. Like the pancake family for example it says they have a pretty unhappy marriage but their relationship is the same like any couple in the game.

I can't really immerse myself with premades when of most of the interesting family bio is lying to me. 2 always set up things from feuds to love interests to cheating it was just good no doubt.
  • I don't have Get Famous, but I have done a little with some of the premades. Namely the BFF family. I edited the heck out of "Travis" and renamed him Austin. I also added a brother (via genetics) to Summer Holiday, named him Colin Holiday. He's one of my favorite Sims.
