I take it in the pack selection option all our packs are selected as 'on' by default and it's up to us to disable them manually ?? This is slightly concerning me as I won't be able to do the update till later tonight, don't want any nasty surprises 😕

Yeah they are on by default. And I personally would suggest keeping them on. The YouTubers I watched today who covered this update lilsimsie and itsmetroi both disabled packs to show us the features and then when they went back to renable them, they were waiting for at least 45 minutes for the packs to be renabled, lilsimsie even emailing the EA team for help. So unless there are packs that you really don't want to play with, I would suggest not touching that feature.

Yup, should be default all on :)
would still backup your game folder before updating, just to be sure can't be too careful (my favourite method for it is just to copy the whole The Sims 4 folder on memory stick or something but I think just copying it to different folder works too if you don't have any sticks lying about )

Phew (wipes brow) thanks for clarifying, I was worried they would be off by default and we'd have to enable them as we wanted, I'm on console and I know they can be finicky sometimes with new updates so I'm glad I don't have to interact with the pack selection menu unless I want too, which I probably won't cause my legacy save! 😁 Haven't had the time to do the update yet cause urgh work but I'm looking forward to not having to reset all my UI and sound options again. So long massive loading screen plumbobs and mood stings 😂
