Everyone remember to remove your mods folder before updating, delete your cache files, especially the localthumbcache, and update your mods before putting them back into your game. Sometimes just deactivating mods isn't enough and can still cause issues. Also, I always like to do a game repair after a patch in case it didn't install correctly or borked something.

I keep a backup of my mods folder, but I never remove it. Never had any issues. But it is worthwhile to always have a backup. Once an older version of Sims studio broke something in my mods folder, had to replace with my backup.
