The disabling pack function is a surprisingly updated choice because I hadn't thought that the team still wanted to add it. It's nice for someone who wants to try new combinations for new experiences or better performance. But for me, I would rather use the old way (using the startup command code in the EA app), because I only disable very few EPs.
The update that adds the "disabling packs" feature is good in theory, but it might be big and too scary if they break a save file. I want to make sure about this before using it.

Regarding the disabled pack, in my main save file, I disabled 'Get Famous' to avoid the fame system and auto-assigning NPC roles to existing Sims. I prefer new Sims to be mixologists rather than premade Sims.
Moreover, I disabled the new EP that I had to buy early just to get the limited items, but I still don't want to use them right now. I still want to digest each EP slowly, and I also want to know the side effects of the new EPs.

Right, besides Get Famous, I don't want to toggle other packs off. Although Lovestruck troubles a lot of things in my save, there are many good things I still want to have.
As I don't have time to play seriously right now, I will stay offline and avoid updating. Fortunately, there is no new "limited-time event" that forces us to update the game. I can take a break, or only play the old features I haven't played through before.
