Simmerville I've been lucky not to encounter as many bugs like other people have from other updates in the past but the black unfixable pictures really devastate me. They've been in saves as early as 2021 when i returned to the game. I've even lost five university graduation portraits, two of those are of sims who are now dead.
The other photos i can easily replicate from the original in the screenshot folder by making them in to CC photos but that's going to take a lot of time and patience as i have lost not a few but a dozen of them and some are sentimental such as first day at school pictures etc.
I had a save where the pictures went black, so I selected to recover previous save from it. Loaded the game and the pictures were visible again! It seems to be working perfectly. Have you tried recovering a save that's close to where you last saved (and from the time pictures were not yet black)?
Interesting. So, after patching the game it might make a difference whether we "resume" or "load" the save? I did not pay attention to this bug before, as I don't mind waiting to pach. But with a new EP coming I will be forced to upgrade. I normally "load a save" though, but others not playing on rotation might "Resume".
My understanding, from what I've read online, is that the bug becomes permanent if you save. If you notice that the pictures have turned black and you exit without saving you should be fine. I am not sure if the pictures turn black only in played households or just randomly, I only experienced this bug once before myself and that was on a lot I was currently playing.
simsimsere I have not tried this yet. I will check later and see if I can rollback.
simsimsere I've had a look and earliest rollback i can do is to the 26th January 2026 which is after the January patch.
Can i ask why has this only affected pictures hanging on the walls and not in the sim inventory?
