Basketball - is there a way to reduce its attractiveness?

I've noticed the basketball hoop in particular interrupting other actions, especially painting.
The best solution I know of is to queue up some other action. Then the basketball hoop can't queue up, since an autonomous action won't queue if there are already player-chosen actions waiting in the queue.

For swimming pools I run a fence around the pool in winter and remove it on the first warm day in spring. You can also leave a year-round fence up with a gate, and just unlock the gate during warm seasons.
