B/B objects have separated swatches in the game files

That might be how the modders work their magic. The only way to know is to copy a TS2 texture/swatch and try putting it on the relevant TS4 item. Suggest a copy as your guinea pig, not an active in game resource. Learned the hard way over a decade ago.
