Beach Wedding - Not possible on a Beach Lot in Island Living?

Today I noticed that it is not possible to chose the beach as a lot for a wedding. That was really annoying, as I spent a lot of time changing the beach lot for this event.
The couple got married on the lot anyway, but I could not create an 'event' for that. :(

I'm not sure if this is supposed to be like this? A beach wedding should be possible on a beach lot, or am I wrong?

I'm sorry if this has been mentioned before, ...

Edit: This also seems to be true for other events, like birthdays or dance parties.

  • If you "miss your point" then don't do it. But yes, I changed the lot type. simple as that. We are still at the beach and have all the fun it provides us with.

    @Simsister2004
    I will change the lot type. I just wanted to inform you, that weddings and some other parties like dance parties can not be hosted on a beach lot (with the lot type "beach"). One has to change the lot type first. I didn't know that - and that was frustrating, because I changed the lot for a wedding and then couldn't host the wedding as planned.

    Still, my feeling is that this is an oversight and hope this will be fixed with a future patch. :)
  • I don't think we'll need a patch for it. Because it has been so all the time. I usually have weddings in my church, and I had to make the lot type "salon" to have church weddings, which is the most usual in my country. I just think it's ok, and I can live with it.
  • One of my other sims households had a wedding in their backyard which is beach overlooking the water and it went fine. Unless it just works for the natives of the island as that is all I allow to be on my islands. I also did not add any lots from any other worlds either so maybe that has some bearing on it. My islands are pretty much as they were with just furniture improvements to the houses. No mainland lots at all. I do not want vacationers here.

    It was a residential lot though right? I think the problem is that you cannot choose a lot that is considered commercially a beach lot. Haven't tried myself yet so I may be wrong.

    Yes it was a residential lot. I also have not tried any other lot for a wedding - in fact that was my only wedding so far. I am not big on weddings - actually since Sims 2 - as Sims 2 had the honey moon and everything right so it was fun - and of course attendants stayed seated and acted like they were at a wedding. I have not been happy with the wedding since to be honest. Even having the wedding packs in Sims 3 did not make me happy with weddings as the messed up the honeymoon.
    My sims got a bad reputation for having a honeymoon in the WA worlds - those bad reps were a big pain in the you know what so I just gave up on big weddings after that.

    Rarely have them in Sims 4 too for many reasons. Even the one I did have did not thrill me or did I send my sims on a Honeymoon. I just moved them into their own little house.
  • To try if it's possible to host a party, e.g. a dance party, on a beach lot (again, to clarify, I mean a lot with the lot assignment 'beach' not a lot with a beach, e.g. a lounge, bar or residential lot), you don't have to actually host the party. You can still cancel the event after selecting the location. Thank you for trying! :)
  • There's a bug report for this here: https://answers.ea.com/t5/Bug-Reports/NEEDS-INPUT-A-Beach-Lot-type-not-available-for-dates-wedding-and/m-p/7973310#M94270
  • I hate that we have to change the lot type in order to have certain events. I usually end up installing a "have events anywhere" mod cause the rules as it is seems so limiting. Like, I think one of the premade karaoke bars in San Myshuno has the "party place" lot trait...but you can't have any parties at karaoke bars. It's so dumb. And saying there's a work around like "just change the lot type" doesn't fix the actual problem, which is that we're being arbitrarily forced to change things in our games for no good reason. Putting to onus on the player to fix something the devs overlooked or didn't think about is not a fair practice, and we have a right to be annoyed by it. Good luck with your game, and hopefully they'll fix this in the future.
