Been testing the plant glitch... Some possible ways to avoid it.
Ok so my current save is a massive farm. As such I have been battling the reverting plant glitch which is still very much a thing. Now I play on Xbox so my game is free of all mods. I also have all the packs except one kit. I also play on long life span with the longest moths and lunar cycles. So hopefully this helps someone else out there.
First the bad news. Things I noticed: it is not tied to seasonal changes. it will happen in the middle of the month so I can rule that out. It also affects both seasonal and non-seasonal plants alike.
It won't matter if they are sheltered or not. It also doesn't matter if they are in the ground or a planter. And all planters will be hit.
Now the goodish news. There are things I noticed that each time has in common and how to tell which plants will be hit by the glitch.
First and foremost this generally only hits plants that you haven't harvested. Seriously. I can't be 100 % about this but every time it hit a plant that I noticed it was one I hadn't harvested. So before you do any of the triggers make sure you have either harvested, sold, or super sell your plants.
Now triggers I have noticed: traveling via the map. This one doesn't always happen. It might depend on other things. I'm still checking. But mostly I avoid doing this if I can. In will say it is less likely if you travel by prompts, like following to work or school or to a festival. Now there is a catch. Always leave a SIM behind at home. Do not use the go home function. This triggers it too. Instead switch control to the SIM at home and then have the SIM who left join them at home. So far that has not triggered it once. Also I usually set the SIM at home to tend to garden while I am away.
Now as far as it happening upon loading into the house the thing that seems more likely to cause it is resuming the game. Instead go to load game and do not choose the auto save choose one you made. Again my plants have survived being purged for may loads now. So I definitely think it has to do with resume which is what I had been doing before.
Next do not plant them with move objects on. And do not use move objects to put a tree in the midd!e of the big planters with other plants. The overlap seems to cause those plants to be hit even if you harvested them. So sorry but gardening need to be mostly MOO free if you don't want dirt piles. Now you can use MOO after they are planted to move the planters around and get them closer to each other. That seems to be fine. I have mine against each other and all is fine.
As far as when you go into CAS and come back out to them messed up again I have only had issues so far with ones that I missed tending or harvesting. So do that first and in theory you should be fine.
So far the only reverts I have had in my current save doing what I suggested were twice. And because I missed harvesting part of my gardens.its been a week of playing. Also before this I had multiple every freaking day. And i stayed revert free even when: going into CAS, managing the world, loading, and traveling a lot.
So I hope this helps.
I also figured out how to avoid the modular shelves popping back into the household inventory. For that its easy don't use MOO when setting them up and don't connect two diffent "units" of them.
