Copypasto can fail, just like any other spell. The chance of failure seems to be pretty low but I have had this happen. You can buy a perk to prevent any practical spell from failing.
As for copy pasto on nectar bottles, it is a fun possibility but a bit too cheaty for me. I don't allow my sims to use this spell to earn money.
