I was able to complete the event without updating, thankfully. The story ending was a bit meh, why don't we learn the identity of the thief. I totally expected it to turn out to be a future version of either Emit or my played sim.
Emits story continues in my game. Just after the event ended a second version of Emit appeared. After several awkward moments both Emit realized an alternative timeline was created due to all the shenanigans by the thief. After all most time travel stories involve creating/experiencing/avoiding alternative timelines. Event Emit wanted to stay but couldn't. The new Emit would have liked to leave but he couldn't. In the end the alternative Emit remained with Livia and the children.
OK, after the event I realised that Emit, even if he stayed around, had some weird coding. For example when I control another sim he wasn't available to join activities. So I created an identical twin brother in CAS to take his place in my save. But the alternative timeline idea just sounds better. 😉
Since they put in the effort to make a Sims 4 Emit, I think it would be cool if he was actually added to the game. He could start out as a Sim that is "not in the world", but in time he may end up moving into an empty residential lot. It would be cool to just see him on random when traveling or if he winds up in your neighborhood you see him walk past your house nearly everyday.
