Completed the event. Can't claim any rewards. I keep getting told I need to go online to claim - but I have pretty good evidence I am in fact online right now. Also, I can't find the setting to "stay logged in" on my new laptop so if I try to restart my game when I'm offline it won't load. I've restarted my game at least three times in the past 24 hours trying to fix bugs, so I'm pretty sure my game and my EA account are in fact online right now too.
The gameplay was bugged to blazes, incidentally. It kept either going backwards when I shifted between saves, or flatly not letting me repeat a step. So after breaking a computer at the library and going to the gym for a workout and a snack, the library computer had been repaired when I got back, so next I had to buy a cheap computer and spend a couple of days using it non-stop to make it break so I could complete the requirement to repair a broken computer.
Completing the event has at least made the event flag go away. When I minimise an event flag, that doesn't mean I want it to un-minimise itself every time I shift from one sim to the next in a household. That's just pushy and rude.
