Bloodline question

I have a sim who is not a spellcaster who has the strong bloodline trait. Will he be able to pass magic to his children?

  • If he doesn't become a spellcaster, the bloodline will weaken one level. I think (though I'm not sure) there's also a greater chance of the kid also not being a spellcaster (though of course they can go to the magic realm to learn.)
  • I really like Bloodlines for kind of developing stories for my spellcasters. In my game, Spellcasters with the Snob trait will only seek out other Spellcasters for marriage to keep the bloodlines growing. Ancient Bloodlines are at war with the Vampires and if I'm playing one of those spellcasters and see a vampire in public I usually cast Deliriate or Chillio just to show a rivalry. If I'm playing a vampire, Vampires will use magic if they have it or bite the ancient spellcasters. I have deep drink modded in my game to kill so I kind of decide on the spot if that spellcaster dies and then if the other ancient comes and summons the ghost and dedeadifies it. I'll sometimes go back and forth between an ancient spellcaster and a vampire for a while just to role play their exchange out.

In my recent save, Father Winter and L Faba have a child, so he has weak bloodline and Father Winter's baby trait among other things which makes him pretty powerful. A Father Winter's Baby with a Spellcaster aspiration will gather satisfaction points enormously quick so he's just a catalog of reward traits. Kind of ridiculous really, out there making snow angels in his underwear. He has 5 children and they all have strong bloodline but only two are spellcasters. The two spellcasters went on to have 3 ancient bloodlines which I made into spellcasters. 2 of them are snobs and don't like humans or vampires and 1 is a benefactor to mankind who gives out rejuvenation and does good deeds. He's now married to Lilith Vatore and often clashes with his brother and sister over her. Lilith can kill them (mod in my game) but she doesn't because of her husband. They'd be happy to kill her if they could. They've hit her with Chilio and deliriate hoping to walk her out into the sun but so far aren't succesful. Lilith and her husband have a daughter named Pandora who is strong bloodline and a vampire. She'll eventually decide if she's going to remain a vampire or free herself of the vampirism and join the spellcasters. Ironically, she has the Snob trait. Hmmmm...could she have more in common with her Aunt and Uncle than her parents know?

Anyway, that was a heck of a derail - the bloodline grows stronger among spellcasters and weakens with non-spellcasters.

What are the benefits of the Father Winter hidden trait?
