I haven't played sims for some time, and over the holidays, I acquired the Snowy Escape pack. I made a new sim with an outdoorsy, adventurous trait, and I hoped for this sim to succesfully complete the mountain expedition. Levelling up on climbing skills is quite slow, and a bit of a grind, but he's finally progressing. As soon as he hit level eight though, he suddenly keeps getting this 'been there, done that' bored moodlet whenever I get him to practice climbing. Is this stemming from the adventurous trait? I don't think I've ever seen this type of moodlet before in any of my sims from previous saves, and even sims in his household don't ever get this moodlet. He's my only adventurous sim, so I wonder if this is the reason? It's quite frustrating as he's not even gone on the excursion yet. How is this moodlet going to affect the success of the expedition? I was waiting until he's a little bit better off financially, and I was waiting for him to reach level 9 so he can craft his own bars. Rock Climbing level 8 should be enough to make the climb. Take a barbecue grill with you (they're portable now, at least in my game) and you won't need power bars. Just grill something when you get hungry.Other than that, I would just try to build up a positive emotion to override the Bored mood.

I think I'll let him take a few days off climbing and see if that helps. I forgot to mention that he's also bored of fishing, which I also noticed started as soon as he hit level 7 or 8. I wasn't too worried about him being bored of that as fishing is quite tame compared to his other activities, but I never thought he'd act the same way towards rock climbing. I hope this doesn't become the norm for every skill he develops, that little bugger! :D

Rock Climbing level 8 should be enough to make the climb. Take a barbecue grill with you (they're portable now, at least in my game) and you won't need power bars. Just grill something when you get hungry.

Other than that, I would just try to build up a positive emotion to override the Bored mood.

That's a good idea! I think I'll let him take a few days off climbing and see if that helps. I forgot to mention that he's also bored of fishing, which I also noticed started as soon as he hit level 7 or 8. I regret not letting my sim go on the expedition sooner. I was considering the cooler from Outdoor Retreat, but I hadn't thought of the barbecue grill. I will look into that. Ahh, I see. Does the trait distinguish between the rock climbing machine and actual mountain climbing? I feel that it should because doing the real thing would be much more exciting.

I noticed that bored moodlet with sims that go to the gym alot. They don't like to just sit on the machines and workout. So I have them punch the bag or play basketball to break up their monotony.

I think the boredom is probably coming from a Lifestyle, not the Adventurous trait. Likely culprits are Adrenaline Seeker and Frequent Traveler.

I don't know for certain. But since you can have your sim work on their rock climbing with either one. I would say no, it doesn't distinguish between the two of them.

I was thinking the same thing too. Mainly because the sim that's an adrenaline junking is seeking excitement all the time. And when they don't find excitement in what ever they are doing at the moment, they become bored. Now the issue lies with how often the adrenaline junky sim becomes bored. If they become bored much to often, then that's a problem.
