Braids: better CAS search options

We have several nice braid options, but they can be very difficult to find in CAS. Some are found in the updo category;some are not. Some are found in long hair; some are found in medium hair. Some are from specific packs; some are from patches/extra content that can't be searched.

It would be so incredibly helpful if you would add a category just for braids, where we could look at all of them together.
  • I think it would be nice if there was also a category for curly hair, the hair organization is in definite need of improvement.

I so agree. We need a Curly hair category in CAS. ;)
  • Completely agree on both! And one for bangs as well. I'd also like to see more hairstyles added for the bangs we do have, so you can have different hairstyles for different occasions but still keep your bangs.

Yes... I had braids on the brain when I posted this, but I completely agree, there are a few other categories I would like to see, and curly hair and bangs are probably top of the list.

Both of those options would be particularly useful to have when switching hairstyles between outfits. Like, my sim might wear a bob for everyday, a ponytail for working out, and an updo for formal or partywear... but if she has bangs, she's still going to have bangs. (Somewhat true for curly hair, although I suppose you might do a straight blowout for a particular outfit or occasion.)

  • I'm so happy that I can at least filter ethnic hair but I agree, we need better filters.

And, as many customers have said for years - MORE SWATCHES PLEASE!!!
We have two blacks, three browns, 5 blonde with one of them being a saturated yellow, three reds, saturated pink, violet, green and blue (have I got that right?) and two brown with grey streaks. We do have a silver hair but not all old people have that colour grey.

Even if we only get more concrete colours, it would be an improvement. There need to be shades inbetween black, brown, red, and blonde. The ombre and streaked 2nd swatch of some of the styles are mostly horrid. If Maxis can map the meshes to have more than one colour, then they can remap the existing swatches to have more than one colour. Or let us do our own combinations - not necessarily a colour wheel (a girl can dream) but the ability to select from a full set of swatches to fill in each part of the hair to be coloured. If that makes sense.

I don't see any harm in updating the game to be more inclusive with colours. I know mine isn't represented.

  • @The_Mercuria Definitely more colours! And the ability to choose swatches from everything from bandanas to highlights in the hair, the same way we can choose color for fur on dogs or horses.

I personally would love to see every hair color come with a slightly grayish version, and more option for grayish hairstyles. Ideally there would be a grey option for each hair color.

  • @JAL Bandanas! Yes, and hair wraps, etc. That would be awesome because I rarely get to use them since they're locked into one colour. I understand having a greying hair for all swatches. We have two browns rn. How does this make sense 9 years later?

I wouldn't mind if they updated the old hairs to match the colour of the new hairs. They're dull and don't shine. Sometimes colours don't match so my Sim can have blonde hair in one style, but ashy blonde in another style.

Side parts - I can't find my hair in CAS. It just doesn't exist. I can't even make myhi sim properly but I have to open a new thread for that. LOL

Yes to all of this and also more funky colors, and have them span all ages. I mean, we have Aliens and Spellcasters in the game, why can't they genetically have sky-blue or deep purple hair?

I'd also really like more skin tone options as well. The lightest pales are very limited, and it's hard to get good medium tones without going too light or too dark or too far into a purple, green or orange zone. I feel like I use the same two over and over for pale tones (that aren't even pale enough) and like, three of the medium. The sliders do help, but it's weird with so many skin tones on the grid, how little I feel like I have to work with. A lot of the dark tones go into some odd hues as well, but there are more good choices there.
