I am happy about the patch. Inclusion is one of the things that I have been striving for with the Sims. I have a friend who had to flee his country as a baby and was interesting hearing his story about that. My ancestry came from immigration too, so I am open minded with regards to people from other cultures and countries. I went to school with many Muslim in college and university. There are Russians in my area that wear head coverings too so it isn't out of the norm where I live in America. I am thrilled that more Simmers can be represented in the game. As far as fashion, treating women like pieces of meat wearing next to nothing is far more degrading to me being a feminist and strong woman in my business industry. Far too often women get hired because of wearing short skirts. Don't even get me started how women are treated on Twitch based on fashion too. So yes considering I actually do have a little more insight to culture I am fine with this update and I hope the beautiful things that women wear in Africa with some of their head coverings are represented too. Also it is extremely hot so if you saw any of the behind the scenes in the making of Aladdin, you would have a bit more insight about head coverings from a Disney movie that kids watch. The sand storms alone wouldn't feel good on bare skin.
A woman wearing whatever she feels comfortable wearing is never "degrading," and nor should it open her up to receiving unwanted advances. We know that many women ARE sexualised in the western entertainment industry (especially in music), but that doesn't diminish the fact that countries that enforce women to cover up in public (such as Saudi Arabia) are equally toxic. If a woman feels comfortable wearing a bikini or a sheer dress she has the right to do so, just as a woman who feels comfortable wearing long-sleeved shirts and head-coverings has the right to do so, because we have the privilege (although it shouldn't be a privilege) of living in a democratic country with a free society. And so do our Sims.
If it was accurate the hijab would be covering the face as well. Because it is not shows it is representing women not forced by a man to show her beauty. Don't our Sims have the right to protect themselves from desert conditions? From having a mom who has fought skin cancer I am all for environmental protection. It isn't true freedom if people with restricted viewpoints have to enforce western fashions upon the world without their consent. Really research it beyond wiki which with college was the worst resource for writing papers and prohibited. My friend was going to be killed as a baby for being Muslim had not his mom kept him quiet from crying. So as far as restricting rights most people can't even read them not knowing cursive that it includes rights of all people including representing Simmers that are Muslim like my friend. He married a Canadian that graduated in religious studies and they are like family to me on Twitch.
