Bringing a ghost vampire back to life

I have a problem. I killed Vlad as an accident. And have been preparing to bring him back to life for a long time. So yesterday when I played I finally got to the point where I got him to eat ambrosia. He started feeling sick immediately and stopped eating (or finished it in one bite, I haven't experienced ambrosia before). Like he had the little action queued that said he was gonna resurrect or whatever it was called but he never did. And then carried on his ghost life. I have my sims fishing for angelfish again to make ambrosia and try, again. But, is there any point in this? Or was it just a glitch?
