The stone buildings would have likely been a monastery and then a university. All very believable. That would make it like Gloucester, Cirencester, etc. Chester is just one of those towns.
Roxbury could also be in England, Massachusetts ... or Saturday Night Live.
If it were Britecester, it would possibly also be pronounced Brite-ster since that middle part gets dropped (it was a fun thing to try and figure out, specifically with Gloucester lol).
But then, there's the University of Manchester...:
