[Bug] Certification for Non-existent Skill? (University)

So my sim is doing her final week (full load) at Foxbury for the distinguished Physics degree, and I had her go sit in on a Baking class because why not. She walks out with a Certificate in Mixology. She doesn't even have the Mixology skill in her list of known skills. She's the only sim in the family, period. She never took any electives for Mixology either. I'm a little bit concerned that something went screwy in the back code. Should I reload my save, or is this a harmless bug?

Yes, I have mods installed. However, they are only a few hairstyles (some official game styles for kids/toddlers) and the latest MCCC.
Below is a link to Imgur showing screenshots of the situation.

  • If it's a bug, it's a harmless one. This seems to be how you get advanced placement for the Mixologist branch of the Culinary career. You earn the certificate by sitting in on a certain number of skill classes and it doesn't seem to matter which skill they're for. That might be by design, so that sims who have already maxed the Mixology skill still have a way to get the certificate.
  • Thanks for the response! I'll keep playing my save then since this kind of sounds like it's part-bug, part-half-baked feature. I don't see EA making this sort of choice deliberately especially since having a maxed skill in a course seems to have little to no impact on your class performance.

Ex. I had maxed the Salvadorian skill from scratch while taking the elective, she still only scored a C whereas her Rocket Science skill was ~7 in the three main classes, and walked out with an A. All classes had their required work finished and done while taking notes. In short, she did more work in the elective and got a lesser grade.

It seems more like it doesn't care about your skills, but that you're putting the time into the classwork, showing up, taking notes, and maybe some extra study time. I just don't see how a skill maxed out previously would prevent a Sim from getting a certificate if the values in the back code are met. On the other hand, it could also be dismissed as an easter egg or something. It still doesn't make any sense to me.
